Dr. Jorge A. Herrera
Dr. Jorge A. Herrera is a highly experienced clinical and pediatric neuropsychologist with over 30 years of practice. He earned his doctoral degree in clinical and educational neuropsychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Following this, he completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical and pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Alcala in Madrid, Spain, where he was also awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.).
Academic and Clinical Contributions:
Dr. Herrera is a founding faculty member of the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University, where he currently serves as an associate professor of psychiatry and deputy course director for professional behavior. His academic career is marked by his role in chairing over 50 doctoral dissertations in neuropsychology and applied cognitive neuroscience, including work with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with various developmental and acquired neurological disorders.

Dr. Herrera has published articles, chapters, books, and monographs on a range of topics, including learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and mild cognitive impairment. He is also recognized for his work on numerous neuropsychological tests used in the field. His international contributions extend to Spain, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama, Argentina, and Colombia, in addition to his work in the United States.

In his clinical practice, which focuses exclusively on neuropsychology, Dr. Herrera conducts neuropsychological evaluations across all ages, from young children to elderly adults. He has extensive experience in providing restorative cognitive rehabilitation services to patients with a variety of neurological conditions.

Dr. Herrera specializes in evaluating and treating conditions such as developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, learning and language disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, acquired immunodeficiency, epilepsy, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cerebrovascular accidents, and vascular dementia, as well as cerebral and cerebellar tumors.
He also serves as the Director of the Department of Neuropsychology of West Gables Rehabilitation Hospital and the Executive Director of the Neurobehavioral Institute of Miami, a training institution for neuropsychology.
